Karnataka State's Education Department has decided to look at the academic year 2022–23 as the "Kalika Chetarike Year," which would focus more on the learning recovery for all schoolchildren rather than the completion of the current grade-level syllabus.
As the Kalika Chetarike learning programme will run for the entire academic year 2022–23, the teachers have to prepare the Calendar of Events/Programme of Work for the whole of the academic year 2022–23.
The Program of Work of Second Language English has been prepared for classes 6-8 as per the Edu Department's draft and is based on the Student's Workbook and the Teacher's Handbook.
The approach adopted in grades 6 to 8 focuses on the essential LOs required in the previous grades and a few in the current grade. The activities are designed in such a way that the students are given opportunities to develop competencies in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in an integrated way. A few higher-order competencies have also been included in these grades as the cognitive levels of these children could be higher than those of grades 1 to 5.
