Information about Teacher Eligibility Test being conducted by States / UTs and the CBSE

The letter from NCTE regarding TET to all levels of School Education explains as below:

1. The NEP 2020 puts forward many policy changes when it comes to teachers and teacher education. The policy aims to ensure that all students at all levels of school education are taught by passionate, motivated, highly qualified, professionally trained, and well-equipped teachers.

2. The NEP 2020 enacts numerous changes in India's Teacher education sector. Under the reference of task no. 145 of the Ministry of Education letter dated 23 October 2020, the NCTE has therefore, constituted a committee to develop a comprehensive TET Guidelines/Structure/Test Components etc. to extend TET to all levels of School Education from Preparatory to Grade 12 aligned with NEP 2020 on or before 31" March 2021.

3. TET has been conducted since 2011 onwards by the States and CBSE and several issues have been raised by the State Government, some organizations, agencies, individuals, and other stakeholders. The committee has to study the implementation of TET Guidelines issued by NCTE, candidate wise, question wise data for psychometric analysis, the difficulties and problems being faced in conducting TET by the State Government / UTs and CBSE.
